Over the summer, I have had the opportunity to work with a few excellent music programs. I spent three weeks as a band director for the Peabody Tuned In program and two weeks as a teacher at the University of Maryland Music camps.
I also had the opportunity to work with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's El Sistema program, OrchKids. The idea behind this group is bringing music to inner city children at a young age to promote social change. What an awesome concept.
These kids are amazing. Sweet, talented and so hopeful. The students get great opportunities to perform with professional musicians in exciting settings. Here are a few pictures from their performance at Artscape this year in Baltimore. Keep an eye out for a very famous guest as well.
