House Renovations

This summer Ben and I decided to do a couple of renovations to our lovely abode.

Apparently in the 80's it was tre chic to create a narrow hallway to divide the kitchen and dining room from the entry way.

Tre Gross to us.

It was so dark and unnecessary.  So we decided to take that wall down.  All the way down.

And then, we decided to remove the dated carpet in the living room, ugly linoleum in the kitchen and yellow oak flooring in the dining room.  The idea was to unify the house, and bring it into modern times.

Here's the result of hours of labor:

Lets compare:

Ben did all the work...I'm so impressed with him.  He hates house work, but he is good at it!

By the way, nothing is finished yet!  We still have to put up moldings and trim, paint and tidy up....but its in a livable state at this point.

We also added a new wooden screen door.  I think the cats are in heaven.

Slowly getting there.  I think it makes a big difference though.  Take a look at the kitchen when we FIRST bought the house!

And now:

Much better.
